Maddocks launches Victorian local government information portal

Thursday 8 September 2016

Maddocks has today become the first law firm to launch a website designed specifically to assist decision makers and staff at Victoria’s councils.

Sound Counsel is a complimentary knowledge portal accessible only by Victorian local government leaders and council officers and provides a range of information for everyday use.

The website includes legal insights, answers to frequently asked questions, legal and policy checklists, and links to important legislation and guidelines.

The information covers areas of importance to councils, including compliance and governance, construction and infrastructure, employment, planning and environment, property and valuations and compensation.

To view Sound Counsel, go to http://soundcounsel.maddocks.com.au/. The site is accessible only to employees of Victorian councils with a valid council email address.

Maddocks partner and Victorian Local Government Sector leader Mark Hayes said the website was part of the firm’s drive to deliver the highest level of client service.

‘Maddocks has had a 131-year relationship with Victorian councils, a relationship of which we are extremely proud,’ Mark said.

‘What has maintained and deepened our relationship with the Victorian local government sector is our ability to listen to our clients and understand what they need from us to be able to do the important work they do for their communities.

‘Sound Counsel will be a resource that anyone working in a Victorian council will be able to use regularly to answer questions and provide information to help them perform their roles at a high level.’
